Purity of Perversion

When you think of the word, “perverse”, what is the first thing that comes to your mind? Usually, when I think of that word, I usually connect it to sexuality until I noticed the word, “sexual pervert”. That was the definition that I was used to, but being a pervert and a sex pervert aren’t that different. Being a sexual pervert can refer to deviant/sexual behavior and a pervert is defined by Merriam-Webster as “to cause to turn aside or away from what is good or true or morally right”. It’s also defined as being corrupt. We’ve all gone through this as little kids. We were curious about our surroundings and some of us may have used a certain body part(s) to interact with our surroundings.  There’s nothing wrong with that, right? Right?!  Sexual behaviors such as this are normal.  Then again, what is normal?

There are different taboos throughout the world.  These taboos might include, but are not limited to, incest, homosexuality (which is becoming more accepted these days), transvestism, etc.  Different cultures around the world have different customs and what they consider normal.  This would include fellatio and incest in different cultures.  Different religions strongly disapprove of it because it could be regarded as “unnatural” or some other moral objection. In Taoism, it is believed to contribute to a longer life.  It is either loved or hated.  Incest is quite common a taboo in past and present societies.  It can fuck with the gene pool and there are a lot of cases of sexual child abuse in our society, but it has been utilized in Ancient Egyptian royalty to keep the royal lineage going.  There is this incest joke that I heard in high school. It went like this: “Incest, incest, it’s the best. Put your sister to the test”.  I may be biased against this since I do have a sister.  Ironically, we do say incest jokes, she more than I.  Yeah, my sister and I can have a wrong, twisted sense of humor and we embrace that.

One classic story of incest, which is unintentional in this case, is that of Oedipus.  It was quite the disaster when he married a woman who, unbeknownst to him, was his fucking mother!!  In his defense, he was ignorant of the fact that he was adopted until later on.  It’s just sad how he unintentionally fulfilled the prophecy.

While many different kinds of perversions are considered normal in different societies around the world, there are always other societies that will frown upon those customs and believe that what they do is moral and just.  So, what exactly is normal, anyway? Well, it varies in different parts of the world.  It’s not like there is a definite answer.  Everyone has their own perceptions.
